Made in Canada

In 2020, we launched Body of Work out of our home in hopes of redefining Canadian-made sportswear. A small team of two people, we are family-owned and operated sharing the responsibilities of design, creative direction, customer service and fulfillment. As we enter our fifth year, we would like to shed light on our process for crafting artisanal sportswear in Canada.

Body of Work draws from Canada’s heritage in world-class knitwear manufacturing. Our garments are produced in partnership with family-owned fabric mills and factories located under an hour away from our home in Toronto. We visit these facilities on a weekly basis to work through every detail of the production process including new fabric developments, patterns and design development. Our bespoke knit fabrics are made from circular knitting machines that weave each fibre to create fabric without flaws. One of the first fabrics we developed, a 3-end French terry knit from combed cotton yarns, is chosen because it offers the perfect balance of drape, structure and a beautiful hand feel. Our woven fabrics are sourced from Japan for their unique characteristics and the garments that we make from them are cut and sewn here, in Toronto.

The beauty of each garment draws from the human spirit unique to Canadian-made products. No item is perfect as our garments are not mass-produced but rather, made by hand by a handful of skilled craftspeople and take months to complete. Our partners are highly technical in skill yet possess the old-world savoir-faire of traditional garment makers. We are bound by our shared desire to create quality garments. Together, we produce some of the finest cotton knitwear in the world.

Body of Work has allowed us to develop and share our passion for craftsmanship. We are grateful for your continued support and we look forward to the exciting things we have planned in the year ahead.

Warmly,

Brittney and Dwayne
