We are pleased to share that the Body of Work Studio, our first design studio and retail space, opens on July 10, 2026 in Toronto, Canada.
When the notion of Body of Work began to take shape, we continued to return to a simple idea that continues to inform our design practice today: artisanal sportswear, imbued with a sense of ease. From the outset, we sought out to craft fine garments made from bespoke fabrics with nature as our greatest inspiration. The Body of Work Studio is the embodiment of these ideas: an intimate space for design, conversation and discovery. In November of 2020, our first offering of garments, just three styles, were made available and our design and fabric development research date back much farther. Like all things found in nature, our growth took time. A small team of just two, supported by our friends and community of artisans, artists and patrons, we are grateful for the support that has brought us to where we are today. Now in our sixth year, we welcome you into our first design studio and retail expression.
Located at the edge of Toronto’s Summerhill neighbourhood, just a stones throw away from many of the city’s well-loved, family-owned flower shops, the Body of Work Studio embodies the duality of city and the nature. Facing Avenue Road and situated at the edge of the lush expanse of Ramsden park, our space welcomes in the serenity of the park, creating a moment of quietude for those entering from the bustling city.
In partnership with the Canadian architecture firm Superkül and with the support of Inline Find Build contractors, we designed the space to honour the residential elements left from the original construction dating back some 100 years: warm brick walls, a fireplace, and a generous back window that overlooks Ramsden Park. A thin linen curtain separates our design studio from our retail space. Natural wood floors from our neighbours, Moncer, ground a palette of soft tones of green carpet and white oak fixtures, accented with elements of black steel throughout the space. Furniture and objects from fine makers from Italy to Japan collected on our travels adorn the space.
It is a place that has been experienced many times over - a work studio for the architect who has owned the building dating back over 40 years, an art gallery, and florist to name a few. A space with its own roots in design, respectively, now home to our own design explorations. This is an incredibly special moment that culminates years of ambition, partnership and belief and we are so pleased to welcome you into our studio.
We look forward to hosting you.
